How Stroke and Diabetes are connected to each other?

Diabetes increases the risk of many other diseases including brain stroke. Generally, a person suffering from diabetes is 50% more likely to suffer a brain stroke as compared to a person who doesn’t.

In diabetic condition, a person’s ability in pulling the glucose into the cells in the bloodstream gets affected. So the people are left with too much sugar in their blood. Now, this surplus sugar contributes to the formation of clots or fat deposits inside blood vessels which supply blood to the neck and brain.

This complete process is atherosclerosis.

If these deposits don’t stop to form, then the blood vessels will get narrower. This can result in complete blockage due to which a stroke can occur.

Symptoms of a stroke:

If a stroke occurs, then following would be the symptoms of the stroke:

  • Numbness, weakness, in the face and other parts like arms and legs.
  • Confusion and dizziness
